Hip hop jewelry is not the proper kind of jewelry for the person who simply wants a nice understated adornment to wear. Typically, what makes jewelry hip hop jewelry is its flashiness and size.

Some of the types of hip hop jewelry include:

• Necklaces – One of the more popular types of hip hop jewelry in recent years are necklaces that include circular medallions on them. However, the medallions actually spin in a hypnotic way when it is being worn. These have become fairly popular in the hip hop community.

• Earrings – Earrings have been part of the hip hop community as long as hip hop has been around. Typically, people who wear earrings go by the rule, “the bigger the bling, the better.” Many of these earrings are simple diamond studs. They are simple, but extremely noticeable.

The fact is that the type of jewelry being worn does not make a person “hip hop” as much as the overall style of a person does. Because hip hop jewelry is typically pretty big and pretty flashy, there is usually a hefty-sized price tag that goes along with this jewelry as well.

Hip hop jewelry is not typically found in traditional jewelry stores. Instead, many people end up ordering these items and having them custom made.
